DLK supports this year’s theme for World Mental Health Day, “mental health is a universal human right,” as stated by the World Health Organization.
Mental health is a basic human right for all people. Good mental health is vital to our overall health and well-being. Yet, the World Health Organization states, “one in eight people globally are living with mental health conditions, which can impact their physical health, their well-being, how they connect with others, and their livelihoods.” Mental health conditions are also impacting a growing number of adolescents and young people. Many of us are either dealing with a mental health condition such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, eating disorders, or know someone who is. People need to know that they are not alone.
All over the world, individuals living with a mental health condition are excluded from community life, discriminated against, or excluded from decisions about their own health. Many more can’t access the mental health care or resources that they need or can only access care that violates their human rights.
Our team at DLK is passionate about driving positive change for mental health through our #findthebeautyineveryday movement, encouraging everyone to appreciate the small things that bring joy to their lives.
DLK works to ensure mental health is valued, promoted, and protected, by having open and honest discussions, offering mental health days to our team, and partnering with Circle Camps – our favorite nonprofit, which provides free summer camps and programs for daughters (like Maya and Senna) who have lost a parent(s).
Support Circle Camps this World Mental Health Day by shopping our Designs for Charity Collection or making a donation today. Big or small, any amount is greatly appreciated and will make a huge difference.
